The summer season is here and he residents of Las Vegas are spending more time outdoors with functions and events held in Summerlin and Henderson many held outside.

It’s summertime in the Las Vegas Valley and many residents have outdoor get-togethers. Families and friends in Boulder City and Summerlin have picnics or barbeques and also have to deal with pesky party crashers – ants, flies, mosquitoes, bees and wasps.

Summertime is the season that all the stinging pests are most active in the Las Vegas Valley. From Henderson to Centennial Hills the stinging and biting insects can pose a threat to our health – sending people to emergency room every year.

A survey was taken by a pest study organization, to find out what pests are feared the most around the world including the Las Vegas area. Twenty-three countries took part in the survey. The following are the most feared pests in order: cockroaches, bed bugs, spiders, rodents, wasps, mosquitoes, termites, flies and ants.

The summer season has officially begun in the Las Vegas Valley and the swarming bees are out. The bees attack not only people in Henderson or Spring Valley – they attack animals as well.

The Las Vegas area gets hot in the summer months – from Boulder City to Summerlin the ants come out. Although tiny, they can quickly cause problems if they infest kitchens, bathrooms and other living spaces.

This is a community service alert for the Las Vegas Valley regarding the relatively new mosquito-transmitted disease Chikunguya. As of June 4 the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has identified 17 different countries with outbreaks of the disease.

There are many bugs and pests in The Las Vegas Valley that can be found in homes that could trigger asthma and allergic reactions. Dust mites, cockroaches, stinging insects, rodents (mice and rats) could find their way into homes from Spring Valley to Henderson.

There are two scorpion species that plague the greater Las Vegas area from Henderson to Centennial Hills.

Like everywhere else in the world Las Vegas has cockroaches. You will see the German cockroach in apartment buildings, hotels and restaurants all over the valley from Summerlin to Boulder City. The German cockroach is the most common species of cockroaches found all over our planet.

Now that the warm weather is upon us in Las Vegas we will start seeing more bugs inside and outside our homes in Henderson and Spring Valley.

The warmer weather is fast approaching Las Vegas and residents of Summerlin or Henderson and other areas of the valley are planning some get-a-way trips. Great ways to unwind and relax - also pick up bed bugs and bring them home with you.
