Bed bugs are spreading in Las Vegas. From Henderson to Summerlin calls for eliminating bed bugs are up 50 percent from last year.

Midges comprise a huge group of insects with more than 10,000 species worldwide. They are the last flying insects we see in the Las Vegas Valley before the winter approaches in Centennial Hills or Henderson.

There are many families that are affected by scorpions in the Las Vegas Valley. There are 23 species of scorpions that live in neighborhoods such as Henderson, Spring Valley and Aliante.

When a homeowner in Las Vegas – whether in Summerlin, Henderson or any other area- encounters a mouse or any other rodent in their home they feel a sense of uneasiness or even fear. These pests are very resourceful and can enter a home or building through the smallest opening or crack – mice can even fit through an opening as small as a nickel.

The next series of subjects we are doing is individual pests and how they can affect our day-to-day lives in the Las Vegas Valley. Last week a swarm of bees escaped from a truck in North Las Vegas that prompted officials to put a nearby elementary school on lock down until the bees were under control.

As the days get colder and shorter in the Las Vegas area people start spending more time in indoors in Mountain’s Edge and Henderson. This is maybe hardest on those that suffer from asthma and allergies due to exposure to indoor allergens.

The last pest on the Las Vegas UNWANTED LIST is the springtail. They can be found everywhere – in Spring Valley, Anthem, Boulder City and Centennial Hills.

Now that we are in the middle of the fall season in Summerlin, Seven Hills and the rest of the Las Vegas Valley we should be aware of the pests that slowly and methodically work their way into our homes.

Ticks are the next pest on the Las Vegas UNWANTED LIST. Ticks like temperate climates – like Henderson, Boulder City, Summerlin, Boulder City and Mountain’s Edge.

Here are some tips from the National Pest Management Association to keep your home in the Las Vegas area – in Boulder City, Centennial Hills or Henderson from becoming a haunted house this Halloween.

The next classification of pest on our “unwanted list” is earwigs. Most agree they are very frightening looking and can be found in homes in all areas of the Las Vegas Valley – in Green Valley, Southern Hills or in Centennial Hills.

If you live in the Las Vegas Valley, or anywhere else in the country, you have probably found ants in your home. They come indoors looking for food and water in homes in Seven Hills, Spring Valley and Boulder City, making ants the number one nuisance pest in America.
